Ingredients

For 4 servings

  • 500 g lean ground beef
  • 8 whole leaves romaine lettuce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • salt — to taste
  • black pepper — to taste
  • 1 avocado
  • 100 g shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. 1

Finely dice the onion and garlic. Cut the red bell pepper into small pieces.

  2. 2

Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant, about 2 minutes.

  3. 3

Add ground beef to the pan. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.

  4. 4

Stir in the red bell pepper, cumin, and chili powder. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the bell pepper softens.

  5. 5

Season the beef mixture with salt and black pepper to taste.

  6. 6

Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  7. 7

Peel and pit the avocado, then slice it thinly.

  8. 8

To assemble, lay out the romaine lettuce leaves, fill each with the beef mixture, top with avocado slices and shredded cheddar cheese.

  9. 9

Serve immediately as an open-face wrap.
