Ingredients

- 1 cup green lentils
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion
- 2 carrot
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- ground black pepper — to taste
- salt — to taste

Rinse the green lentils under cold water. In a medium saucepan, combine the lentils and water, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until tender. Drain and set aside.
