Ingredients

- 1 cup white rice
- 1 cup dried lentils
- 2 carrot
- 1 onion
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- 5 cups water
- 1 stock cube
- salt — to taste
- black pepper — to taste
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions

Rinse the white rice and lentils under cold water until the water runs clear.

Peel and dice the carrots and the onion. Mince the garlic cloves.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the diced carrots to the pot and cook for another 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the rinsed lentils, rice, water, and stock cube to the pot. Stir in the dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
